Lazy Mike: Exhibition

Fedora Akimova: Silt

Silt assembled from two series of objects and several videos, demonstrates a world without humans or planet Earth on which dinosaurs did not die out and continued to evolve.

Perhaps a meteorite snagged the atmosphere and flew on, dinosaurs didn't die, and natural selection created a quick perfect mind, thriving in harmony with itself and the world. The epic center video documents the concentrated steady life of dinosaurs inhabiting an uncertain shelf in a timeless world, where architecture disappears without a trace.

Fedora's intricate and pretentious constructions, created from fragments of everyday objects from dumps and flea markets - her experiments in formal assemblage and object collage - are unified by that specific plasticity of wholeness and timelessness by which we habitually identify some ancient value. The archaeological texture of objects communicates the persuasiveness of fact to something that never existed, and lends a sensuous density to the imagined distance of a distant future after man.
